The Quiet Between

In The Quiet Between, the fragile threshold between presence and absence is explored through long-exposure photography captured in some of Kent’s darkest rural and coastal corners. These images, taken in near-total darkness, reveal an unseen visual world, one that only exists through the delayed gaze of the lens.

Rather than chasing clarity, this project embraces the ambiguity of shadow, distance, and time. Light leaks. Skies smear. What is seen emerges not from intention but from waiting, from allowing the camera to interpret silence. The resulting landscapes feel unanchored and spectral, where familiar structures dissolve and what remains is part evidence, part apparition.
